A course is useful when it gives you structure, correction and enough active practice. The expensive option is not automatically the best, and a cheap course is not good value if the group is too large for you to speak.<\/p>\n

  • How many teaching hours and over how many weeks?<\/li>
  • What is the maximum group size?<\/li>
  • How much speaking\/writing correction will I receive?<\/li>
  • Are books\/platform access included?<\/li>
  • What happens if I miss a class?<\/li>
  • Is this general Dutch, work Dutch or exam training?<\/li>
  • If exam preparation: which exam and which official specification is being used?<\/li><\/ul>\n

    Pronunciation deserves deliberate practice<\/h2>\n

    Ask for correction on vowel length, ui<\/em>, uu\/u<\/em>, eu<\/em>, g\/ch<\/em>, consonant clusters such as sch<\/em>, stress and connected speech. You do not need a \u201cperfect Dutch accent,\u201d but pronunciation that listeners can process easily makes conversation far less tiring.<\/p>\n

    Make the course leak into real life<\/h2>\n

    Use each week’s language within 48 hours: order something, send a message, talk at a Taalcaf\u00e9, summarise a news item, or deliberately use two new phrases with a colleague. Learning accelerates when class content becomes part of your actual routines.<\/p>\n
