Register with a kraamzorg organisation early, particularly in regions with capacity pressure. Check whether the provider is contracted by your insurer and what your policy says about reimbursement.

What does kraamzorg do?

Observe the health and recovery of parent and baby.

Support feeding and practical newborn care.

Teach parents how to care for the baby safely.

Coordinate concerns with the midwife where necessary.

Perform limited household tasks connected to maternity care; it is not a general cleaning service.

Cost in 2026

Kraamzorg is in the basic package and does not consume the compulsory eigen risico. For kraamzorg at home, the statutory contribution is €5.70 per hour in 2026.
