If something at work feels wrong, identify the problem before choosing the help route. Underpayment, unsafe work, discrimination, dismissal and a contract dispute may involve different organisations.
| Problem | Useful route |
|---|---|
| Contract, dismissal, salary dispute | Union such as FNV/CNV, legal adviser or Juridisch Loket depending on eligibility/situation |
| Below statutory minimum wage / labour-law enforcement issue | Netherlands Labour Authority (Nederlandse Arbeidsinspectie) |
| Unemployment / employee-insurance benefit | UWV |
| Discrimination | Local anti-discrimination service and/or Netherlands Institute for Human Rights depending on the issue |
| CAO question | Employer/HR plus the relevant CAO/union |
Keep evidence
Keep the contract, CAO, payslips, rosters/time records, relevant emails/messages and a dated record of important conversations. Ask for important decisions in writing. If you are underpaid, official government guidance recommends first raising it with the employer; if it is not corrected, the Labour Authority or legal action may be routes.
